The Heather
Location: Boyne Highlands, MI
Date Played: Sep. 2011
Clubhouse and Staff: Small clubhouse next to a large, beautiful hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Driving range was average at best, as it was set up right into the side of the hill.
Course Conditions: Immaculate conditions throughout the entire course. Even late in the season, the fairways, tee boxes, and greens were absolutely perfect. Greens were very fast, but held iron shots very well. Each hole is different from the rest, the course winds through the woods. Slight elevation changes, and quite a few water hazards are other features of the course.
Playability: This course is not a long course, but it takes precise shot-making. Driver is not the play on several holes. I would recommend having a GPS or buying a yardage book in the clubhouse.
Scenery: Beautiful views, wildlife, and water hazards make this course top-notch.
Value: The best way to play his course is to include it in a “stay and play” package. The price to play this course individually is quite expensive.
Overall Experience: One of the best all-around courses in the state of Michigan.
