Thornapple Pointe Golf Club
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Date Played: Oct. 2011
Clubhouse and Staff: Nice clubhouse and bar/grill area. Expansion of a new banquet hall looks to be coming soon. The carts have GPS in them which is always a nice feature.
Course Conditions: Fairways, greens, and rough are in excellent shape. Parts of the course can get wet, as they are tucked down by the Thornapple River.
Playability: There are some very difficult holes on the course, including 2 tough, long par 5’s along the river. There are also some holes that can be scored on. Thick, long grass punishes errant shots.
Scenery: Great views along the river. Also some nice wooded areas and wildlife.
Value: The weekend summer rate is a little steep, but overall it is a good value.
Overall Experience: This course is definitely worth playing. This course would be even more enjoyable if it were not close to a major airport and highway.
